A home energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home consumes and to evaluate what measures you can take in order to make your home more energy efficient. An audit will identify problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time.
By improving your home’s energy efficiency through measures such as sealing air-leaks and leaky ductwork, improving insulation as needed, and other inexpensive procedures you will also increase comfort and improve the indoor air quality of your home.
Energy Potential Inc. specializes in residential energy applications. We will visually inspect your home from top (attics) to bottom (basement or crawlspace), inside and out. We will assess your home’s exterior features for possible sources of moisture and air leakage. Inside the home we will use a variety of equipment such as a blower door and duct blaster to perform a room-by-room assessment to pinpoint where your house is losing energy. We will evaluate the home’s heating, cooling, water heating and ventilation equipment to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems.
* Please note that we will need access to every room in your home to perform the energy audit. Also, make a list of any existing problems such as condensation and uncomfortable or drafty rooms. Have copies or a summary of the home’s yearly energy bills so we can evaluate seasonal energy use.
After we complete the evaluation of your home, we will generate a short home report with a prioritized list of recommended improvements along with educational supplements related to the features of your home that may assist you in doing the improvement work yourself, or may assist the contractor you hire to perform the improvements.
We want to make sure that you experience improved performance after this home audit and we would like to follow-up with you after six months and one year to see what improvements you have made and what benefits you are experiencing as a result.
